The safeguarding of your personal information is something that has always been taken very seriously at Madison Mutual.

Information we may collect

Madison Mutual does collect nonpublic personal financial information to properly maintain and service your account.  This information comes from the following sources:

  • Information you provide us on the application for insurance, loss notice, other forms or by telephone. Examples of this information include your name, address, telephone number, social security number, driver’s license number and date of birth, employment, gender, marital status, and prior insurance information.
  • Information we receive to verify or supplement your application or loss notice. This information may come from underwriting surveys, credit reports, medical reports, motor vehicle reports and your agent or broker.
  • Your policy or claim file may contain information that we develop and maintain based on transactions and experiences you have with us. This may include (but is not limited to) account balances, payment history and loss history.

Protecting your personal information from unauthorized access

Madison Mutual limits access to your personal information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services for you. Further, your personal information is protected by physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in accordance with state and federal standards, including strict personnel policies and procedures for access and use of electronic data.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

We do not disclose personal information to third parties, except as described below and as permitted by law.

Madison Mutual does disclose nonpublic personal information to others but only if we have received proper authorization from you or are required by law to do so.  For example, we use independent loss control representatives to conduct underwriting surveys. In certain circumstances, independent claim adjusters or other nonaffiliated specialist services are used.  In order to protect your privacy, whenever we hire third parties to provide services for our benefit, they will be required to conform to our standards of strict confidentiality, limited use, and nondisclosure agreements.
